First 10 minutes of this wedding. Felix makes a rockstar entry sprinting across the red carpet with our cameras barely being able to keep up with him but what happened next, made this wedding extraordinary. The band started playing “Indescribable” by Chris Tomlin and our man instantly broke down - just stood there holding Taarika’s hand, overwhelmed with joy, tears rolling down his cheeks …Taarika looking at him, smiling. As wedding photographers, we are lucky to experience amazing moments rather often, but this was profound even for us.
Rewind one month - We were on the night train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok when we received Taarika’s message - “We would love to have you guys photograph our big day!“. A small celebration over some fresh pulpy orange juice (Yes, it’s a thing in that part of Thailand) followed. Right from our first Skype meet across Bangalore and Bombay, we knew that these guys were an exact copy of us. Seriously, if we were younger and Christian, we would have been them :D
We had to shoot this wedding!!
After all, it ticked all checkboxes - An intimate wedding under a tree, the goofiest couple and an amazing gang of friends who beautifully handled everything from make-up, decor and music to the reception cake. Anand, who conducted the ceremony, was also a family friend.
We started the day with Neetika shooting at Taarika’s home in Yelahanka and I at The United Theological College Hostel where Felix and his folks were staying. By 4:00 PM we had converged at Princess Green (in Palace Grounds), the venue for the ceremony. All thanks to these super-punctual families, the ceremony began in the golden evening light which we absolutely love. Also, we finished the rituals with enough time to spare for a few couple portraits and some fun pictures with the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Everything was planned and executed precisely like clockwork.
The one thing that absolutely stood out for us was the music played by Felix’s friends. They owned the stage and entertained everyone late into the night. The other thing, of course, was the food :) :)
